Intel PRO/Wireless 2200bg cannot see wireless network

I have fitted an Intel TrueMobile Wireless LAN MiniPCI card into my Latitude C640 and installed the latest driver from Intel. The card shows as working in the device managed and it is enabled, however there is a red X against it in the systray.  If I click on the icon it states that 'No wireless networks were found in range'.

I have another PC working with a USB wireless network key and it can see our wireless network.  I have been told by our broadband supplier that I need to enable wireless using the Fn+F2 keys, but this does not do anything.

Anyone any ideas?

Yes, both wires connected and tried both ways round.

See if the wifi card is disabled in Control Panel -> Network Connections or in the BIOS.
