Intel Software

I just got an M4600 laptop and I'm cleaning it up. There are several Intel applications installed:

  • Intel Identity Protection Technology
  • Intel Control Center
  • Intel Management Engine Components
  • Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

I understand RST is required to manage the storage devices, but we are not using active management or anti-theft so can I remove the Management Engine Components and Identity Protection Technology?

Also, the Control Center seems only to be a launcher for AMT/AT and RST so can I remove it as well?

If you aren't managing these systems remotely the system should run fine without Intel Identity Protection Technology, Intel Control Center, and Intel Management Engine Components.  If you do plan to manage the systems for your users, you may well wish to consider keeping the files.

I removed the Intel Identity Protection Technology, Intel Control Center, and Intel Management Engine Components with no problems. I left the Intel Rapid Storage Technology, not that it appears to do much of anything.
