Intel Wireless "Disconnected from network"

Hello! I'm new to the Dell forums so i'm unfamiliar on how it works.

(also the system I am using is very old)

My Dell Latitude d620 seems to have gained a habit of randomly disconnecting from the WiFi Network. It will only let me reconnect if I repair the connection or put the laptop into standby and then wake it again. The laptop is using Windows XP.

I've ruled out a virus causing this since it has been doing this during the process of getting windows set up.

I understand my system is outdated (since the d620 was released around 2006) but this issue has been going on for a while now and it is rather annoying.

Hi Marc Carless

Thanks for writing to us.

Please try updating the wireless drivers from

http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/latitude-d620/drivers

. post installing go to device manager, right click on the wireless adapter, select properties, select power management. uncheck the box that says "'allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"'.

Also you can test the network in safemode with networking. If the issue doesnt replicate in safemode with networking, consider reinstalling windows. If it happens then its mostly a hardware issue.

Regards
