L702X HDMI port not working

When connecting an HDMI device, such as a TV, to the laptop (L702X XPS with Win7 Ultimate), it registers the device, recognizes its model number, etc. and believes it to be connected, however the TV does not show connected.  Tried this on a couple of different TVs and same result.  Tried the NVIDIA control panel settings to no avail.  Removed and reinstalled all latest drivers for BOTH Intel and NVIDIA software and no change.  

I'm now contemplating replacing the I/O daughterboard (part # H8GW8) all together.  Is that the only option left at this stage or can someone suggest something else?
