Laptop Dell n5110 gpu chip upgrade

I was wondering if I were to buy a new motherboard for the laptop which doesn't come with a graphics chip, which chips would be compatible and would work on this motherboard.

Rayray451,

Below are the graphics that were an option at point of sale for this computer from Dell.

NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M
AMD Radeon™ HD 7450M

You can't replace the chips (or add one).  You'd need to replace the mainboard with one having one of the two options that the system was sold with.

You will also need to change the heatsink-fan assembly and if you have a 65W AC adapter, will need to replace that with one having 90W (i5 or lower) or 130 W (i7).  Add the cost of the board, heatsink and adapter and you've over $200 just in parts -- and that's for a 6+ year old system.  You may find it a better idea to replace the system - or buy a complete used one  instead.
