Laptop XPS L511z not charging

Hi,

I have the XPS L511z with following configuration:

- Windows 7

- BIOS A12

The battery is replaced already.

Without the battery the laptop works with the charger.

With the battery (Windows 7)

0% available (plugged in, not charging)

With the BIOS the battery is recolonized.

Please advise.

Regards,

Check the system setup (F2 at powerup) to make sure the adapter is correctly recognized.  If it is not, that is - if it shows unknown or not present - the battery will not charge.

If that's the case, first try a new Dell OEM adapter.  If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC power jack - and if that doesn't solve it, replace the mainboard.

This is the DC jack:

With BIOS setup (F2 key)

-  AC Adapter Type                          90W           This is Dell OEM YY20N

- Battery Health                                This battery is performing normally.

With Windows 7

- AC Adapter plugged in

- Battery is installed

It has the message:

0% available (plugged in, not charging)

The DC power jack is good otherwise we can see the AC adapter and the battery with BIOS.

With the BIOS the battery is present it means the DC power jack is fine or the adapter is fine too, just the motherboard may have some problems (the motherboard is replaced last year and they did not use the laptop without AC charger until last month)

Please help.

Thank you
