Latitude 1545 Restarts after Shutdown

Our Latitude 1545, running Windows XP Pro, recently started restarting after shutdown.   We've had it about 6 months.  We can only shut iut down by holding down the power button.

Here's what we've tried, to no avail:

       1) We deselected the Automatically restart button. In 'My Computer' properties:  Advanced / Startup and Recovery / Settings, System Failure.

        2) Updated the BIOS.

         3) Updated all drivers in recommended order and also singly, with reboots between updates..

This is driving us nuts.

My two-years-old Inspiron 1545 goes crazy in this way recently. It keeps restarting in 2 seconds after Windows shutting down. I had suspected it is a Windows settings issue, but I find I cannot shut down it even from Linux and Leopard (I installed three OS in it ;-) The only way I can let it completely power off is _unplug_ the power cord before starting shut down process in Win7 or Linux or Mac with the _battery _ON_.

It should be a hardware (setting?) issue, however, I do not touch the BIOS/CMOS settings for a long time I have no idea why it suddenly happens. I've disabled "wake on LAN" or any kind of waking up settings in BIOS but makes no difference.

This notebook failed to boot after only six months usage and I saved its life by replacing a drained CMOS battery on the motherboard, it has served me quite well. Maybe now it needs another complete surgery, I'll break it apart and put together again to see if anything happens.
