Latitude 3350 Windows Deployment Services issue

Hi everyone,

We've just gotten some new Latitude E3350s, and are trying to image them with WDS.

The Realtek NIC in these is a RTL8168H, PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_070C1028&REV_15 ;DELL

I am not able to add drivers to WDS, I get an error every time.

I've tried manually inserting the latest realtek drivers both - netrtx64.inf DriverVer   = 01/15/2015,106.13.0115.2015 - and - rt64win7.inf DriverVer   = 01/07/2016,7.098.0107.2016

Using both of these latest drivers, Windows Setup states that no matching network driver was found.

I added these to my stock Windows 7 SP1 boot.wim using imagex and DISM.  I verified that the files do end up on the machine, but the driver won't start.

Also, using a stock windows 8.1 or Windows 10 boot.wim, I get a message about not being able to contact a DHCP server.

Also, I'm using WDS on Server 2008 R2.

Any ideas?  I'm not sure what to do from here.

Thanks,

-Ricky Wallace

I am having this same issue.  Did you have any resolution for this?

Yes, I actually just figured it out yesterday. :)

I was able to inject these drivers: netrtx64.inf DriverVer   = 01/15/2015,106.13.0115.2015 from Realtek's site, and embed them into the boot.wim .

My mistake was not loading them into index2, instead of index 1.  I used this guide, just make sure to change index to 2 in the directions. :)

I still can't import the drivers to WDS, so I have to install them manually after imaging.

Update:

I was able to fix mine.  Rather than use the drivers provided by Dell, I acquired drivers from Realtek directly, link here.

I typically use DISM with a boot.wim, and the drivers from here worked perfectly.
