Latitude D600 AC Power Adapter Problems

Hello all!

I have a Dell Latitude D600 using a 90W power adapter (model #PA-1900-02D, DP/N 9T215a) which was running fine.  After not using an adapter for a weekend, when the adapter is plugged in and system started up, get a BIOS-type error which reads "The AC Power Adapter type cannot be determined.  This will prevent optimal system performance".  When Windows starts up, the power icon in the system tray reads "On AC Power" (not "charging"), and the battery level remains at 53% (doesn't charge or discharge).  Bought a new AC adapter (model # NADP-90KB A, P/N 9T215), and still get the same results.

Completely afraid to drain battery and try to recharge.

Thanks!
Geoff

Geoff,

If the new one was a Dell, from Dell (thought a D600 used a 70Watt), then the problem is likely with the 'chip' on the main board that identifies the Power Supply as a Dell.
