Latitude D800 screen goes blank after 30-60 seconds

I'm trying to help a friend with a Latitude D800. At some time during boot, the screen goes black. The troubleshooter says it's not a screen failure. I get a beep code of 3-2-3 when I run the diagnostic. The troubleshooter says it is not a screen failure, and gives me a choice of error codes I'm supposed to collect (along with beep codes they offer no corective referance to) from the the screen WICH IS BLACK! (are they kidding? who writes these things, and do they ever fix dead ends like this?)

Since I can't read the screen, what do I do now? I can't get an external monitor to run.

Sounds like the video card has failed.

This exact same thing happened to me.  I also have a Latitude D800 and my screen goes black after few seconds.  I get a beep code 3-2-3 and troubleshooter leads to the same dead end as described above.  I cant seem to find what that beep code means.  Anybody got any advice?
