Latitude D830 processor speed

My current Latitude D830, Intell core 2 duo T7250 processor, 2.0GHZ only show running at 1.2 in bios.  Installed CPU Z and it shows my cpu running at

598MHZ......it is running speed step but I have no option in the bios to turn this off.........why can't I get the full 2.0GHZ speed?

Thank you

Hi fgibson1911,

Press F2 on boot up to enter BIOS and Load Bios defaults. Also ensure that the “Multicore Support” and “Speed step Enable” options under “performance” are enabled. After performing these steps let me know if there is any improvement.

While you're in BIOS setup, verify that the AC adapter is correctly identified - if it's listed as "unknown", the system won't run at full speed.

Never would have considered that.  I will order a "dell" adapter and see what happens.

Thanks

Do I "need" a 90W like my the warning my bios tells me for "best performance" or will a normal 65W serve the same purpose...ie allow my processor to run at 2.0ghz as it is rated?

Multicore Support and Speed step are both enabled.  Also I reloaded all defaults.  The only thing that changed is a notification that my AC adapter is "unknown".

You need a 90W adapter.  A 65W adapter will cause the system to slow down.
