M1330 and Overheat issue
If i purchase TODAY, would i still get this problem with the 8400GS ?? Or have Dell put measures in place to avoid this problem? Has Dell made a motherboard/gpu revision?
Could someone from Dell please comment.

And did you get your system from Dell? or was it refurbished from a third party vender?
also what temperatures are you getting from the GPU??
install this hardware temperature monitor.. http://www.cpuid.com/download/HWMonitor_109.zip
and post up what temps you get...
cheers

Hi, what is considered a high temp for the GPU?
Mine has reached 71 oC on occasions, which seems hot to me. Mostly it seems to be able 58-60 oC.
Perhaps a regular regime of blowing out the cooling fan & ducts needs to be done (monthly)?

Also, I only have a std 1yr warranty on my m1330 (a 2.6MHz T9500; 4GB RAM; 320GB; WLED beastie bought just last week) - perhaps I ought to consider extending it quickly?

My GPU temperature is currently 79 degrees.
I have been trying to get Dell to change my motherboard due to constant freezing and closing down, they are supposed to have called today but I am still waiting!

Using one of these for chilling my laptop at the moment. It works well when placed between the laptop and your legs, but works even better when placed on a flat surface. I filled it with cool water over an hour ago... it's obviously most effective when the water is at its coolest, but even now my average temperatures are quite a bit lower:
CPU: max 67C, min 32C, current 43C
GPU: max 79C, min 61C, current 70C
HDD: max 44C, min 29C, current 36C
