M3800: "FreeFall Protection" not starting

Hello,

I have a Dell Precision M3800 running Windows 8.1 Update 1.I have installed:

ST Microelectronics 3 Axis Digital Accelerometer Solution Installer
Version: 4.11.0046

From either one of the executable:

  • FFS_STMicron_W8.14_X01_A00_Setup-N06Y4_ZPE.exe
  • M3800_Chipset_Driver_N06Y4_WN_2.2.2.18_A00.EXE

The problem I have is the application is not starting when Windows starts.

Every time I restart the PC and manually run "C:\Program Files (x86)\ST Microelectronics\ST_ACCEL\FreeFall_Protection.exe" I see this screen:

Also, I do see an app/icon/entry on the Control Panel about the Free Fall Sensor. It point me to the same previous screen.

I can also add, that I don´t see the software or something related on the "Task Manager --> Start".

After reading this thread: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19369584.aspx

I tried the "turn off idea". What I got is this:

  • If I turn off and later on the computer, the Free Fall Sensor gets enabled when Windows starts automcatically
  • If I just restart the computer, the Free Fall Sensor gets disabled when Windows starts.

This is more crazy than I thought :)

Is it working? Any ideas how to keep it on?

Thanks!
