I don't want to uninstall. I think McAfee, although not as good as NOD32 is better than Norton.

Anyway I paid for it, I just want to configure it so it doesn't remind me to update something that doesn't need it

I had already registered. I got onto McAfee online support.

I downloaded an app (for which they sent me a link) and rebooted.

so far so good

You usually only get nag screens, if the program hasn't been registered?

Have you registered the program on the McAfee website, since you got the laptop?
