Memory issues

I have a Dell Inspiron 17 5000 Series, and recently my memory has been filling itself up. I went from 120 free GB of space to 62 GB in five days, and in those five days the total space used by everything I downloaded was less than 1 GB. It dropped from 120 GB to 83 GB in a few days, and then yesterday dropped from 83 GB to 62 GB, and in that second drop I did not download or install a single thing. Can anybody tell me what's going on?

Hi Blockrokker

Thanks for writing to us.

Do provide us your system tag#, email address and name via private message,by clicking on my name in blue and then select send a private message

Are we talking about the virtual memory or the hard disc space?

You can try doing a defragment if its the space on HD.

If its about virtual memory, please increase the virtual memory manually.

Await your response.

How do I do that on Windows 8?

It's the hard disc space. I've already run a defrag to no effect.

Turn off the system restore (or adjust it so it doesn't use as much drive space):

That may very well have been what was happening. I deleted my system restore points (they were all after the trouble started anyway) and I freed up 200 GB. I have limited what space is available for use, and I hope there won't be anymore problems. Thanks!
