My F1- Mute, F2-Sound Decrease, and F3-Sound Increase buttons won't work on my new Dell™ Inspiron 15 Laptop Computer i5559-4013SLV

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for help on how to fix my problem.

My F1- Mute, F2-Sound Decrease, and F3-Sound Increase buttons won't work on my new Dell™ Inspiron 15 Laptop Computer i5559-4013SLV.

Some info. If you need more, let me know I'll post back asap.

My sound works fine.

I've had the computer for less than a month.

Everything else works fine, I just can't get these *** sound buttons to work. I have to manually go to the taskbar to raise or decrease volume at all times.

Thanks!

David

davidspetservices,

Try pressing Fn and escape together and then try the sound buttons and see if they work now. You can also try pressing Fn and F1, F2 and F3 together.

You can also go into the BIOS, hold shift while clicking restart and choose the BIOS.  Under POST behavior look for Fn options.  You can enable Fn and escape as a toggle by checking Fn Lock.  Of leave it unchecked and make sure that Lock Mode Disable/standard is selected should work as media keys.

I will shoot you a friendship request in case you continue to have difficulties.
