New Battery with 66.60% Wear Level?

I purchased a new battery from a 3rd-party dealer for my XPS 15 laptop. The battery is a genuine Dell and looks exactly like my old one. However, BatteryCare reports the following:

Current battery capacity: 100%

Designed Capacity: 57720 mWh

Total Capacity: 19281 mWh

Current Capacity: 19281 mWh

Charge/discharge rate: 0 W

Tension (Voltage): 12755mV

Wear Level: 66.60 %

... and the Dell battery meter program says that the battery is at "the end of its usable life"....

Is the battery just mis-reporting it's status, or did I buy a dud?

Ask the seller.  If the battery is more than 6 months old, it could conceivably have 1/3 or more of its life behind it before you even start using it.

Thanks ejn63, looks like the manufacture date on the battery is 2011.01, almost two years old.

I just purchased a replacement battery for a 1458 studio laptop, a 9 cell from Dell.  Arrived in the mail and the manufacture date on the battery says Oct. 2008.  Is this out of the ordinary?
