No POST - Motherboard?

Hello,

I have a Latitude E7440 which is out of warranty. Nothing comes up on the screen, nothing comes up on external monitor, no LED codes. The power light comes on and, when I plug in an AC adaptor, the battery light comes on. I can also hear the fan running. I tried removing the memory and hard drive but no change.

Normally I'd suspect the motherboard but the power light is always on. As soon as you plug in the battery or the AC the power light comes on and I can't get it to turn off. It's like the switch is stuck in the on position or something.

Is there anything else to check before I order a motherboard?

Thanks.

The fact that both the LCD and an external monitor do not show anything is a tell that the motherboard is bad.

* Remove the battery. Make sure the power is turned off and the system is unplugged

* Remove components (memory, etc.) from the system and reconnect the AC adapter to the system and try again to see if anything different happens
