No power, no power lights

Hi all, I worked on a ladies laptop. I installed a bigger hardrive. I then put xp pro on and ran windows update. sp3. 

 I then got a call a week later, she says her laptop won't do anything at all. She dropped it off and yes it does nothing.

 It was running great when I gave it to her. There are no lights on at all for the battery. The charger lite is on. but none on the laptop itself.

 After reading some posts. It seems to me that she must have dropped it.  I have ordered a mother board for it and should be here in a few days. I ordered before I came here.

 I am hoping it isn't another problem, ie charger. She bought a new battery, not a dell. A rayovac.

 She obviously had someone else looking at it. She was telling my wife that her wifi would not work, so she had to of had it running.
