Potential Reformatting Issue for Alienware 14?

Hello. First, I'm going to explain why I plan on reformatting my Alienware 14 in case there is a fix I have not tried or missed after hours of troubleshooting. My computer upgraded to Windows 8.1(Without my permission, somehow. Woke up to this nice surprise). I can no longer play many of my games due to such errors as: "failed to create graphics device" and "failed to create d3d9 device" Updated my drivers and Directx, even installed all available Windows updates yet the issue persists. It seems that the update has somehow interfered with some drivers, and apparently I'm not the only one to have this issue.

The question that pertains to the subject of this question is this: once I begin reformatting how is it possible to change discs? I see no way to manually eject a disc as this is a slot-loaded optical drive. I have both the operating system disc and an Alienware 14 resource DVD and am not sure which will be required for the reformat. Reformatting seems to be the only option as Windows 8.1 was kind enough to delete all of my recovery points and it seems there is no possible way to revert from 8.1 to 8.

Thanks in advance for any solutions or potential solutions.

Windows 8.1 does not automatically update unless something's changed recently.

You only need the Windows Reinstallation DVD for the Windows install see here for details on how to use it:

You might also be able to use Alienware Respawn to restore your factory settings:
