[Q] Best Nivdia driver for 8400M GS on XPS1330 running Windows 7 ?

Best Nivdia driver for 8400M GS on XPS1330 running Windows 7 32?

My M1330 was bought with Vista, I have since converted to W7 and have used the Nivida site auto-selector for latest GPU driver.

Recently though, I have been getting a black screen crash, so I am not sure this is the proper driver for M1330/W7.

Aparrently, Dell does not support my M1330 for W7 GPU drivers.

So, can anyone confirm the best ( for stability ) video driver to use for  8400M GS on XPS1330 running Windows 7 32?

BIOS is A15

How long did the system run properly with the same video driver?  Given that this system uses one of nVidia's "engineering marvels" (facetiousness intended), it could be an early sign of a  failing video chip.

The Nvidia 960.99 W7/8400 driver was running about a month ago, then problems start occurring.

You may be right about hardware failing, the h/w diag is getting two errors, Realtime Clock fail 4C00:021D, and System Timer fail 4C00:041B.

A problem with timing could cause the driver to restart. This also is happening on older versions of the Nvidia driver, but if I use VGA driver - it works fine. I am thinking that timing is affecting only the Nvidia/8400 operations.

Of course, Dell is claiming that the error is due to the driver.

I am going to call in the h/w error again as a "hang" and not mention the display driver.

Will keep posting as saga contines.
