RAM Upgrade for Dell Studio 1749

Hello.

Currently i have 2 x 2gb 1066 MHz ddr3-10600 cl9 ram, wanted to upgrade to Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz cl11 CMSO8GX3M2A1600C1, but windows doesn't load with this memory.

Im running intel i5 cpu, windows 7 64 bit, bios version  is A08 24/03/2011. What i need to do to make them work?

Thanks for any help on this.

Hi LTstalker,

Dell studio 1749 system has two internally-accessible SO-DIMM sockets and can go up to 8GB maximum memory. It can only run with 1066 and 1033 MHz speeds. Hence you may check and get the memory modules replaced which will have same memory speeds.

If you have any other questions do reply to the same thread.

Can I run one 8GB Module, instead of two 4GB?

Hi SamKQboro,

Dell Studio 1749 laptop can only use 1GB, 2GB and 4GB memory modules. Hence you would not be able to use only one 8GB Module on this system.
