RE: DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION

Hi Rishi,

I'm having a similar problem - please can you help?

After upgrading to Windows 10, my Dell XPS 15 L502X is getting a blue screen error "DPC_Watchdog_Violation" after it wakes from sleep mode.  This triggers a full PC restart and the loss of any unsaved work.

I have downloaded the latest dell updates, drivers and BIOS (the machine is reportedly up to date) but this has not cured the issue.

Please can you help?  What can be done to fix this issue?

Thanks,

Hi dell-xps-15,

Apologies for delay in response.

If the issue is not resolved, please read on.

Firstly, this system is not compatible to work with W10 - see this link - http://dell.to/1IYeHK1

What is the exact bluescreen error code? Could you download and run the bluescreenview software - http://bit.ly/1G6LT0S - and send me a screenshot of it for review?

Even if this issue is fixed, it may be a temporary solution for all we know or it may possibly trigger some other issue in the future. I would suggest you to downgrade the OS to W7/W8.1 for full system functionality - see this link on how to - http://bit.ly/1MeFV1d

Keep us updated.

P.S. Since it is an XPS model, I have moved the thread to a new section.

I too have an XPS15 L502X and upgraded to W10 and have gotten this same error a couple of times but not when in sleep mode.

I've attached the bluescreen viewer capture. I would really like to avoid having to go back to W7 if at all possible.

Hi mbara,

Thank you for the screenshot.

The parameter 1 however, is not hidden. So I am not sure if it is 0 or 1. Read more about this specific bluescreen error on this link - http://bit.ly/1N2fXA2

I hope you have read my previous post and that you are probably now aware that your system model is not compatible to work with W10.

The DPC error could be either an OS related or mostly caused by a physical memory that was unable to handle the interrupt.

Update the BIOS from support.dell.com - http://dell.to/1kGWIcI - enter the service tag and select drivers and downloads and run the BIOS update.

Restart the system and keep tapping on f12 key and select diagnostics. Run the test and make a note of any errors that you might possibly encounter and reply with the error details. Also, run an extended / thorough tests on the hard drive and the RAM / memory modules.

As stated previously, even if you manage to resolve the issue, we cannot assure that the system will be stable on W10.

Keep us updated.
