Repairing a Vostro 1500 laptop....

Looks like I fried my motherboard when installing more RAM in my laptop. She won't turn on or boot up at all now. A new motherboard is around $225, plus labor. The local repair shops here are questionable. Would it be cost-effective to send this laptop back to Dell for repair, or just buy a new one? Any ball-park estimates? It would be for a motherboard, labor, and roundtrip shipping. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply! Looks like I'll just buy a new Vostro A860 for cheap, and sell my broken Vostro on ebay.....

If the price is firm, that's great for a mainboard - Dell charges about $400 for the board plus another $100 or so for labor - it will run about $500 to have a board replaced.
