Service tag not found and Server 500 error
Service tag not found on an Ebay purchase. After I enter my tag number, I get the message that it is not valid. And after downloading the personal assistance software, the laptop displays the same ID as on the sticker on the bottom. Also, I am getting the "Server 500 error/down msg". any suggestions?
Thanks for your help and I have about 10 dell computers around the house.

Contact the seller of the system - only they can tell you why the service tag isn't showing up. If the system was a grey market one (sold originally in another market from where the seller sold it to you) this can happen -- and in any case, you must have the seller transfer the system into your name with Dell, or it will have no support or warranty.
