Shutdown sleep problems

I have a dell inspiron 3537.The video card drivers offered by dell are very old.So i installed latest amd and intel drivers from their respective websites.But after installing them i am getting 2 main problems.The laptop wont shutdown.When i try to shut it down it automatically restarts.Also when screen turns off it does not turn back again.So i have restored the previous drivers offered by dell.Is their any way to avoid these sort of problems by installing the latest drivers?I have intel hd 4400 and amd radeon hd 8670m graphics card.Please tell me if their is any solution to these problems.Thank u in advance
