Stuck Media Buttons

Hello, I am hoping that someone out there can help me. I own a Studio 1737 and my media buttons are stuck (the MediaDirect button is always on) and,for that reason, my computer will not shut down.  The buttons are above the keyboard and are touch sensitive.  When I try to shut down, I click on shut down and it automatically restarts.  I called Dell during my warranty period and they uninstalled and reinstalled something but, for the life of me, I cannot remember what they reinstalled. I have been in the device manager and do not know the "technical" name for the media buttons.  Does anyone know what I can do to make my poor computer able to rest again?  Thank you for anyone who is able to help!
