Tag Remnant Remains on Desktop

Have an XPS 17 (L702X) running Win7 64bit. When I use Windows Explorer, the last command I use (e.g., Save, Save As, Copy, Paste, etc.) remains on the Desktop after closing the program, and cannot be removed by Refreshing the screen. The only way to remove this tag is to reboot the computer, or change the Screen Resolution and then change it back. Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there a suggested cure?
