Trackpad cursor "freezes" intermittently requiring reboot

I have the Inspiron 7737 laptop running Win 10 with upto date drivers and no known issues apart from this one.

The trackpad mouse just freezes intermittently, regardless of what operation I am doing, or where the cursor is etc. Sometimes the laptop will work fine for hours and sometimes just a few minutes before it happens.

It has  been happening more months now, and I'm pretty sure its some sort of software glitch, because when I reboot all is good again!

When the mouse freezes, the rest of the control still work (tab key, etc) the problem appears to be just in relation to the trackpad.

The trackpad details are:

Dell touchpad driver 19.0.15.2

Synaptics Gesture Suite

SGS Version: SGS 15.3
ClickPad Series 1.5 - Imaging Sensor
Driver Version: 19.0.15.2 09Jul15
Firmware Version: 1.1
Scrybe Version: Not installed
Interface: SMB
Windows Version: Win10

Please help its slowly driving me insane!

thanks in advance

I am having exactly the same problem, and this only started a week or so ago. pointer starts behaving erratically then freezes. Right clicking sorts it temporarily but then it starts again after a few minutes.
