Transferring file from old hard drive to new computer, black screen Dell Inspiroon 1545

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't seem to locate the information needed.

I have a black screen, and cannot hook to external monitor.

I found a you tube video showing equipment to just transfer files: USB 2.0 to IDE. My hard drive does not seem to have the pins exposed as the equipment within the video.

I'm sure that I mhave revealed my

Lack of technical savvy. Any assistance on what USB transfer device to use.

Thanks,

Christie

Christie that hard drive is SATA and in my picture my usb adapter has a SATA attachment (red and black) coming out the top.

You have the USB to IDE. You need USB to IDE and SATA or just USB to SATA.
