Tv Tuner makes laptop freeze?

I recently purchased a avermedia tv tuner for my vostro 1500 out of an xps one on ebay. I have never had any problems with my laptop and the minute I intsall the tv tuner my laptop freezes. When I take it out it is fine. I'm thinking there is something wrong with the tv tuner. I know it was not designed for this laptop, but it should worl fine. Any ideas?
