USB 3.0 not working on Precision M4700 after Windows 7 x64 reinstall

I just recently reformatted my hard drive, activated UEFI and reinstalled the x64 version of Windows 7 using the CD supplied with my Precision M4700 laptop.

It all went relatively smoothly and everything is working fine except when I plug my USB 3.0 external hard drive into the USB 3.0 ports, it tells me in the notification popup area that the drive will perform faster if it were plugged into a USB 3.0 port.

The hard drive was working fine at USB 3.0 speeds the day before I formatted (I used it to back everything up), and I have tried installing and uninstalling both Intel and Dell drivers, rolling back to previous versions, allowing Windows to select drivers, checked the BIOS (which is up to date) and according to the device manager, Windows is telling me it's all installed and working correctly.

But it still doesn't work.

My next thing to try is another USB 3.0 device but I'll have to go buy one, so is there anyone who can shed some light on this in the mean time?

Is there something I'm missing or can try to make my USB 3.0 work?

Ok, so one of the other guys at work had a Samsung USB 3 hard drive.
I tried it and USB 3 works fine. :emotion-2:

Ha, so it was my USB 3 hard drive all along. :emotion-40:
Next step is to try a new cable to see if it is that or the controller in the enclosure...

Hi TERRA,

Thanks for the post! As well as making sure your chipset drivers are all up to date I would suggest re-installing your systems USB root hubs by right clicking and uninstalling from the device manager. After re-installing the USB Root Hubs try updating the USB 3.0 drivers as well, linked below. While chipset drivers should allow normal USB 2.0 speeds to function normally this driver should help with the USB 3 connectivity.

Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver Version 1.0.8.251, A05

As I mentioned in my OP, I've already tried the Dell drivers..

I just tried completely removing the drivers and installing these ones, to no effect.

Here's what I get using USB Device Viewer, if it's of any help:
