USB Mouse - Inspiron 5100

I have installed a USB mouse & updated drivers (Logitec)  in this notebook.  About 3 out of 5 times when I turn on the computer the mouse doesn't load.  I can still use the touchpad but have to shutdown & restart for the mouse to start working.  When the mouse loads, there is no error in the device manager.  When it doesn't load, it doesn't show up.  When I run msconfig it is supposed to load.  This is driving me nuts.  Any ideas why?

webfire,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Make sure that your system is running Windows XP Service Pack 1.  If the USB mouse came with drivers, you should install these.  You will have to contact the manufacturer of your 3rd party hardware for additional support.
