USB Ports

Tonight I plugged my camera USB cable into 1 of my USB ports and my Dell Inspiron 9200 stopped working. Tried to reboot it, but nothing. I unplugged the battery and put it back in. I was able to boot the computer, but none of my USB ports are working. I went through the troubleshooting tips in the device manager. It indicates that the USB ports are all okay. However, none of my USB devices work (printer, scanner, mouse......). Any suggestions? My OS is XP, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
