Ubuntu 12.04 on Dell Inspiron 15R (5537) - No Wireless

Hi,

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my new Dell Inspiron 15R (5537). I cannot have the wireless being recognized.

Was anyone able to run Ubuntu on this laptop?

Thank you,

Alex

Hey Alex,

I am using the exact same laptop and yes everything works perfectly fine with it, even the touch screen.

Try with Ubuntu Desktop 14.04 LTS 64 bit installer.

Hit me up / reply if you need any help

Yeah,

One thing I missed is that ATI Radeon Graphics driver that is provided by xserver is the only one that works, the one provided by ATI Team doesnt install properly..

If Dell / ATI has some suggestions it would be welcome

I can share the logs etc..

Regards

Vivek

Hi Vivek,

Thanks for replying. I managed to install 12.04.4 back then, which is executing smoothly (12.04.3 had the issues originally reported). I'm happy I got rid of Windows 8.1; I even received the USB installer from Dell, had remote support sessions too; tried downgrading the BIOS, but none of the published drivers worked at that time (unable to suspend, video drivers, and other issues).

I am a happy Ubuntu user since then!
