Ubuntu doesn't detect my soundcard on XPS13 9360

Hi!

From one day to the other, sound stopped working...

output of 'lspci | grep audio' is nothing

alsamixer output; 'cannot open mixer: No such file or directory'

I've tried cold rebooting twice, as well as checking the BIOS to see if audio was enabled (it was) and this has not helped.

Thank you.

Hi,

We’re listening. We checked the details of the system and found that Dell is not tested this system with Ubuntu Operating system. Since the system is not tested, we are unable to find driver for the same.

You can refer to this link http://dell.to/2gDVmbD to post your query related to Ubuntu OS.

Hello. There is a section of this forum devoted to the Linux based operating systems. Suggest you post your Ubuntu question there.

Gamba, did you ever resolve your problem? Post dmesg output somewhere and I'll compare it to mine.

I know this is for a totally different system, but Intel NUC Skylake BIOS Version 0039 released in March "Fixed issue where audio device got lost when power is lost."

I'm 100% speculating, but our kabylake 9360's audio hardware might be similar enough to have the same bug. Kinda scary that a device can disappear permanently.
