Upgrade Memory on Dell XPS 15 L501x

Hi,

I currently have 2 x 2GB Dell factory RAM installed on my 64 bit Windows 7 Dell XPS 15 L501x laptop. I want to upgrade the ram, but was wondering if this http://amzn.to/wthRe7 was compatible with my laptop. Also, if I buy another laptop later on, I can just re-use the Corsair memory and put the dell memory back in when I send the laptop in for recycling, correct?

Thanks in advance!

Hi James,

The Corsair 8GB memory on the link provided by you is compatible with XPS 15 L501X and you can swap it with Dell memory modules, when you send the laptop for recycling.

Please let me know if you need further information.

I just got the ram in the mail and it doesn't work. Please help. It just keeps flashing dell bios load up after showing starting windows for a millitsecond...I don't think its compatible! :c

Try the memory modules one at a time -- if one works, the other may be faulty.

Hi Jagst3r21,

Thank you for your reply. I suggest updating the BIOS by using the Dell memory and check if it fixes the issue with the Corsair memory modules.  You can download the file from the following link:
http://dell.to/Q7ubyv

You will need to check with Amazon on their product  return policy if the memory fails to work after BIOS update.
