Upgrade of Dell 630 Ram
hie team
l recently bought a 4 gig ram single chip to add onto my D630 that had 2gig intsalled on it. since the 2gig were two ram chips. so wen it was upgrade one was removed inorder to install the 4gig chip. in total thats 5gig ram physically installed. logicall on the machine l can only see the 4gig and the other 1 gig is not being detected. is this the maximum the d630 can take. l tried ugrading the bios but nuthing changed. help!!!

Max is indeed 4G, as 2X2G soDIMMs.

sory maybe you didnt get me well. l have installed 2dimms ( 1 x4gig dimm and a 1x1gig dimm to make it a total of =5gig. but l can only logically see 4gig only ????

No, you didn't read what I posted. The maximum RAM for this system is 4G, and it must be installed as two, 2G soDIMMs. 4G soDIMMs are not officially supported and while one may work, it will max out the RAM so you won't see any additional memory no matter what you install in the second slot.
