Upgrading Dell HDD
Hi all,
I have a Dell Studio 1555 Laptop (2009 I think) with a single HDD and Windows 8 Professional installed. The HDD is making loud clicking noises, and I want to replace it with a Samsung 840 Series 120GB SSD. It is 2.5 inches, 7mm thick, backward compatible with older SATA, and Win8 compatible.
1. Is this SSD compatible with my laptop? (I think my current HDD is 9.5mm thick. Is this a problem?)
2. How would I migrate my entire image of Windows 8 to the SSD? I don't want to have to do a clean install if possible.
3. How do I install the SSD? Is it any different to installing a HDD?
Thanks for the help,

Yes, the drive will work -- and it'll fit fine. It's the same as installing a hard drive.
You're better off with a clean install of Windows 8 (particularly if the existing drive is now failing, as it sounds). If you want to try cloning the existing drive, you'll need a means of connecting the new drive to the system externally, plus a cloning utility that supports Windows 8.
