Upgrading wi-fi adapter on 15r 5537
Been using 15r 5537 for about a year and a half and I was wondering if there is a way to upgrade to a 11ac adapter from the b/g/n (Atheros QCA9565, Dell Wireless 1705) that I was originally given.
If so, what adapters can I buy? Links to buy them? Does Dell provide them officially and have drivers for them?

Hi Sudarsan,
Unfortunately advance notification about upgrades, parts changes, etc. is a very closely guarded secret, which I'm not privy to. I wasn't able to even get anyone to "speculate" if this would be available in the future. An external device may be your only option at this point.

Robert

Hi Sudarsan Ranganathan,
Thanks for posting.
The currently supported wfi card for this model is the DW1705 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.0 Half Mini Card
so, if you wanted to change it, that's the only model I see that's available. You could use a USB wifi device, which are fairly inexpensive and may have more options.
Hope this helps.

Robert

Hi Robert,
Thank you for the prompt response.
Does Dell have plans to support 15r 5537 with a 11ac adapter in the future at all (if the laptop can support 11ac that is) i.e. will any 11ac network adapter that might be introduced as a peripheral part fit in the 15r 5537? I could wait if so; the laptop is a beast - it seems unfortunate to a power user like me to be stuck with 11 b/g/n speeds given the fact that the laptop has almost every other advanced feature that you can easily use this laptop for at least another 5 years.
Thanks,
Sudarsan

Does Dell now have a compatible 5 GHz adapter for the Inspiron 15R 5537?
