Video Decoder
I had to reinstall my system. The Media Center will not initialize. I get a message: "video decoder has either malfunctioned or is not installed. Please restart media center and or the computer". Ihave done this severl times but no difference and no media center. Any suggestions.

I would install my PowerDVD software if I could find it on my Dell restoration disc or my Roxio disc. Any idea where I can find them on the Dell disc?

If you can't find your PowerDVD disc, download VLC

I installed the VLC but Windows does not see the decoder included (And it installs like 5 different 3rd party applications for things like shopping). I used an MS tool to choose the decoder to use and the only thing is see's is the Sonic Mpeg-2 decoder, but it also says it's not compatible. Once I chose the Sonic decoder, Media Center started to work (watching TV), but only for a minute or two, before it would freeze (needed to End Task).
Summary, VLC didn't help and my Media Center is now freezing when watching Television.
Any suggestions anyone?
