Vostro 1000 BIOS POST beep error code
Hello,
I have a vostro 1000, and it is not turning on.
when I try to switch it on, there is no display on the screen, the BIOS POST gives 4 beeps and 3 beeps (4 - 3).
I am not getting what these beeps mean in any of the user manuals.
I even tried to attach an external monitor, but no help.
I removed the RAM, cleaned it and put it back, even this didnt help.
If someone can tell me what is this problem, it will be great!
Thanks in advance.

The pathetic Dell Customer support center told me that the motherboard was gone and I had to replace it.
And the REAL problem was , the RAM slot was faulty, I just removed my RAM, put it in the other slot and it started working!!!
They had quoted me a Rs. 7000 (~ $ 160) for replacing the mother board.
Dell is a BIG cheater company, please dont every buy anything from them.
I know the developers who put this 7 beep error message know what the problem is, but they just want to make money.

However, if you ever need that other RAM socket, you will have to replace the mainboard - so Dell is correct.
You patched around the problem, rather than fixing it.

Oh yeah...! u big advocate of Dell.
I dont care about adding a new piece of RAM, all I care is that my current Laptop works...
Anyways, who is going to buy anything from Dell next time!

Dell makes good products most of the time, reasonably priced and I can only recommend this brand.
