Vostro 1510 blue screen during system restore to factory settings and now won't boot
Hi
I have a friend's dell vostro 1510 with Vista that had would not start up or repair so he gave it to me to fix. I tried to restore to factory settings via F8 function as i couldn't get anything else to work.
The restore started ok - it asked for keyboard layout then started to erase the HDD and just after it started a bluescreen appeared!
I've tried to restart the process a couple of times but now get a message saying BOOTMGR is missing. press ctrl alt del which just reboots!
I thought i'd need the repair DVD - which of course my friend doesn't have.
I checked out the Dell website and there is a place to get a backup restore disks: http://supportapj.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=au&docid=124442&doclang=en&l=en&s=gen&cs=
the actual link on the page is this: https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form
When i click the backup form i get a SQL error!!!
Any thoughts?
Thanks
