Vostro 3750 Memory 8GB Limit

The Vostro 3750 description states 8GB maximum memory limit

    but

both the i7-2670QM cpu and the Intel HM65 chipset specifications support 16GB.

Is there any technical reason why the V3750 will not support 16GB (2 x 8GB)

of correctly specified DDR3 memory - other than the support issue?

Although Dell states the maximum memory on the Vostro 3750 to be 8GB, I have installed 16GB (2 x 8GB) without any issues on my i7 3750.

I ran the linux based memtest+ a few times without problems and my Vostro seems to run perfectly.

I'm a happy camper...and will attempt 32GB (2 x 16GB) when the 16GB modules come around at a reasonable price.

Good luck. :)

Your best bet is to install an SSD drive. I put one in my Vostro i5 and it was an amazing improvement.  Samsung PRO 128gb SSD should be a good place to start.

Dell hasn't fully tested memory sticks over 4gb.  That isn't to say that larger memory sticks wont work, only that they haven't been tested.  With that being said I can't suggest trying larger memory sizes but would love to hear from more what their experiences updating the system ram has been.

Thanks for the post, I am glad to read that the larger dimm sizes work fine.

Thank you for your response.  If you read this can you let me know the Make&Identifier of your 16GB(2 x 8GB) memory modules?  Did you ever attempt 32BG (2 x 16GB)?

Hello Powellar,

I am currently using Corsair DDR3 (1333 MHz) 8GB SODIMM's x 2.

Part# CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9

So far, running Linux x64, Windows 7 x64, Windows 8 x64, no issues whatsoever.

I have yet to try any 16GB SODIMM's...soon maybe :-)

Thank you TJet1.5

If you ever succeed with 16GB SODIMM's please post information.

I would be very interested.

I want to let others know I also successfully installed Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600Mhz 10-10-10-27 204-pin SODIMMs Part # (CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10) which has been running flawlessly for over a month.  Note the standard Corsair memory configurator follows Dell's specifications and does not show a 16GB configuration.

Hi there,

I am wondering whether to upgrade my Dell Vostro 3750 but it has an Intel Core i3-2310M cpu. Any chance you know a) whether it is worth upgrading (will performance times be improved) and b) if the cpu is compatible with upgraded RAM. My laptop is currently running at 3GB RAM in case it helps.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

Have you tried 32GB (2 x 16GB) on Dell machine?

I´m thinking upgrade with this SSD (Kingston web says it´s compatible with 3750):

www.kingstonmemorycards.co.uk/kingston-480gb-ssd-now-v300-7mm-sata-3-iii-hard-disk-drive-hdd-bundlesv300s3b7a-480g

Later, for RAM memory i have a question: i5 supports more than 8GB????.
I usually work with photos and 3D renders and would like to get 2x8GB (16gb total RAM)

I´ve found this RAM memory for our vostro 3750...will this work with 1600 Mhz???

I want to buy 2x8Gb, 16 Gb total

Tahnk you in advance ;)

Officially no -- max RAM for that system is 2X4, or 8G max, total.
