Warranty Expiration
Hi,
I Purchased a Dell Laptop from Walmart in August of 2009, for which I purchased a Dell Extended Lifetime Warranty (5 year). In my thinking the warranty should begin from the date I purchased the laptop, but the Dell warranty people tell me it begins from the date it shipped to Walmart, some 4 months before I bought it. How can this be???

I did register the system with dell, and they acknowledge that I purchased it in August not in April when it was shipped to the retailer, but still have told me my warranty only goes thru April.

It isn't, IF you have registered the system in your name (systems purchased other than through Dell must be registered with Dell):
http://www.dell.com/support/retail/us/en/19/Register
The start date of the warranty will then be the date of purchase.
