What utility for recording from mic-in?

I am building my XPS M1710 with all the things I use on my desktop HD video editing station.  One little utility I usually have at hand I cannot find.   On my desktop with SoundBlaster Xfi I use the "SmartRec.exe" to redord from line-in.  I purchased this notebook with SB Audigy integrated but see no such utility.  "Audio center" plays but does not seem to record.  "Wave Studio" manipulates sound but seems not to record it.  I don't see anything under Sigmatel either (audio chip drivers).  Any ideas?
