I have a Dell Studio XPS 1640. I would like to update the driver of my WiFi.
In the support dell web site under network there are different file to download:
Dell - Application
- Wireless WLAN 1510 HalfMiniCard (4322)
- Wireless WLAN 1397 HalfMinicard (4312bg)
Dell - Driver
- Wirelss WLAN 1520 Half MiniCard
Intel - Driver
- Intel (R) WiFi Link 5150
Intel - Driver
- Intel (R) WiMax Link 5150
Which files I can downloaded?
My WiFi card is: Intel WiFi Link 5100.
Thank you,
Michele.

Michele,
Go to Drivers & Downloadsin the left column, near the bottom, look for Warranty status. Click on it, then enter your service tag number. Click on original configuration. There it will tell you which wireless adapter you have installed.
If using Vista/Windows 7, you can also run Finding System Information remove your product ID and near the bottom, you'll find all your network adapters.

Michele,
You'll need the drivers for the 5100 AGN
Did you try running Finding System Information?
If you recently reinstalled the operating system, you need to install the desktop/notebook system utility and the chipset drivers first, or the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Please read How to by-pass the Dell Download Manager and use Internet Explorer to download the drivers, in your browser.

Thanks Rick,
for your email. My question is a little bit different. From Driver & Download with my tag number i found the list like in my previous email.
From my original configuration i "discover" that i have this two:
WIRELESS : INTEL WIFI LINK 5100 (802.11
WIRELESS : INTEL WIRELESS CARD LABEL - C
Now, my question is: what I have to download and install?
There is two application, do i have to install botouh?
There is a Dell Driver, do i have to install?
And regard the intel driver, the first or the second one?
Thank you,
Michele.

Michele,
They should be available at Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then look under network. Please read How to by-pass the Dell Download Manager and use Internet Explorer and download in your browser.
You can also try the drivers from Intel® Driver Update Utility
