Wifi internet disconnects when closing the lid.
I have some problem with my Dell Laptop. When I close the laptop lid (plugged in) wifi internet disconnects automatically. When I close the lid (on battery) it's not disconnected. I also checked the option in control panel "choose what closing the lid does" and its on "do nothing" only.. I'm facing this problem from yesterday only.
Please help me to solve this problem. Thank you!

Hi nsdhinesh,
Thank you for the reply. I will recommend you to uninstall and re-install the wireless driver:
In case the issue still persists, BIOS update might fix this issue:
Note: Please save any unsaved data as your system will restart automatically after updating the BIOS. Disconnect all the external peripherals like printer, camera, scanner, external hard drive, flash drive etc. Also, the battery should be charged 10% or above.
Keep me updated. Please reply for any further questions.

iamdhinesh,
Please continue with DELL-Vikram M
I would like to add this information.
Did you try this tweak?
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
If yes, you cannot uncheck the power management box for the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter(s) or they go missing.

Rick,
Thanks for your reply.
I think I did one mistake. I have not only unchecked the box "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" of wireless adapters, but I did the same thing for "Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter and
Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter #2" , power management.
After that incident only I noticed the error. So I kindly request you to suggest me an appropriate solution.
Thank you!

iamdhinesh,
For the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter #2 make sure to go back and check the box, allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. The adapters should not go missing with the box checked.
If the still go missing, then reply back and maybe DELL-Vikram M has another solution.

iamdhinesh,
Use the system for a day and see if the Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter #2 goes missing or gets the yellow exclaimination marks.
Post back and let us know.

I am having the same issue with the DEL E7440 running W7 using the Intel Wireless AC 7260. This is an issue as I have meeting all day and I don't want to disconnect form the network when I pop the docking station or when I close my lid.

I found a workaround! I normally do not install the “Intel WiFi Software” to control since windows does a decent job at it. Well as a hail marry pass I installed the software and now when I close the lid wireless stays on. Also I found out that if you have a docking station and you have Ethernet connected to the docking station, wireless radio will shut off. So if you want wireless to never shutoff, install the Intel software (different then the driver) and unplug any Ethernet from your docking station.

Hey SSN-PAUL,
I'm sorry that you too have the same problem. Now I have a different problem, When I close the LID (ON Main Power) internet disconnects automatically. But When I close the LID(on Battery) internet does not disconnects. This is really bugging me. No technical guys can solve this issue. Very disappointed.

Hi Dhinesh,
I have a Dell Inspiron 15z and just spent the last 2 hours trying to fix it. What just did it in the end was a simple BIOS update. I had exactly the same problem as you:
Lid open, on charger: OK
Lid open, on battery: OK
Lid closed, on battery: OK
Lid closed, on charger: NO WIFI
Try the BIOS update again, maybe this will help.
All the best mate!

Same problem with Vostro 3550. I will try using IntelPRO tools later to see if it will change something.
