Will installing SSD void my Dell Inspiron 3542 warranty?

Hi,

If I replace my existing HDD with new SSD, would this void my warranty? I have 1 + 2 years extended warranty.

I know if i damage anything like sata port or any other hardware while installing SSD, this wont be covered under warranty.

But what if I replace the SSD and next year the touch screen, motherboard or some other hardware goes bad and I call Dell for repair. They will see I have changed the drive. Would Dell troubleshoot my laptop? Will it be covered under warranty??

It won't void the warranty on the rest of the system, but you should retain the original hard drive for the duration of the warranty -- if it becomes necessary to ship the system to Dell for repair, you'll need to install the original hard drive in the system before you send it back.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to us!

In regards to upgrade of part you can go ahead with the upgrade as long as there are no damages on the system which will not be support and void the warranty.

Thanks

Robin
