XPS 13 (2015) 9434 distorted 1cm strip at bottom of display - hardware or software issue?

Hello all

Bought my XPS 13 with Win 8.1 and upgraded to 10. Has been working well overall since July, but recently a strip of distortion appeared at the bottom of the screen. See picture below

This has now happened a second time. The first time, it went away after I updated all the drivers I could find and installed all windows updates. Have tried the same this time to no avail.

The affected part of the screen is still responsive to touch. The pixels also respond to changes on the parts of the screen above, as if mirroring the content above.

Appreciate your time, anyone reading this. Any help or pointers you could give, especially in working our whether this is a hardware or software issue, would be very much appreciated.
